Racial disparities

One of the contributing factors to racial disparities that Williams identifies is implicit bias. Implicit bias affects our behavior and the way we perceive others. None of us are immune from it. For example, practitioners (including women practitioners) are less likely to take female patients’ pain seriously. In what ways have you seen implicit bias present in your experiences in healthcare?
Another contributing factor is the lack of trust between African American communities and the medical institution. Other than what is mentioned by Randall, what initiatives could help the medical community regain the trust of African American communities in the United States?
