Discrimination or prejudice

Racial and Ethnic Relations in the United States historically and contemporarily have been for the most part controversial. Implied is the idea of one can be prejudicial towards someone or a group without discriminating against them. Such arguments fail to consider the importance of stereotypes and labels in the ways in which we as individuals make use of them in our everyday interactions and encounters.” As it is a position paper, your task is to address whether having biases against someone or a group amount to or justify discrimination. In other words; when does discrimination occur? Does it begin with thoughts or does it begin with acting on it? Think of what we discussed in class throughout the past few weeks about stratification, gender/racial inequalities. Moreover think of the discussion on how it is so difficult to address race and racial relations. Or that discrimination would not occur without prejudicial thoughts/perceptions.
