Listen to three pieces. Write 2 full paper (12points, singled spaced) that describes each piece from your perspective as a listen (i.e. what you notice, not what you read about the piece or what the composer has said about the piece), and the compares the three pieces.
-make sure you listen for more than one element of music. you can discuss melody, harmony, rhythm, timbre, orchestration, and technique, style, etc
-look at the dates the pieces were written, and in the comparison part of the [a[er consider whether the pieces are indicative of the composer’s stylistic shift over the course of their career.
- DO NOT present biographical information that is irrelevant to the pieces.
- Do NOT bogged down by content that is outside the music
