Creating a wep page

You will create a webpage that illustrates creative interactions with the content of our course. Here’s a link to a website to get started with Google:

Other free webpage design sites such as Weebly or Wix are also acceptable. Choose one that works for you!
The project’s essential question is: how can I illustrate what I’ve learned in this course and make it meaningful for myself and others? The page can take a host of directions, based on your imagination and personal and professional goals. For example, you can design a page that:

  1. Connects course topics to activities you’d engage in as a parent, professional, or other advocate for human development. For example, if you are interested in teaching, you could create a page that highlights different activities to do in the classroom based on developmental psychology. If you’re planning a future in health care, your page could address treatment plans for future patients or clients.
  2. Serves as a resource page for students, parents, clients, or others with whom you (plan to) work. For example, include links to relevant websites for child development on topics of interest to caregivers of children and adolescents with special needs.
  3. Illustrates theories of human development as manifested in the arts (e.g., in literature, film, or song). For example, you could illustrate developmental theories of psychosocial and emotional development in adolescence and adulthood illustrated in hip-hop and discuss your selections.

Other….the above are simply suggestions.
An important thing to keep in mind is that it’s YOUR page and that you should design it based on your interests and needs. If you have fun creating it, it will certainly be of interest to me and perhaps the people with whom you live and work.
A few suggestions (not required):

  1. Work on this page throughout the quarter; don’t wait till the last minute.
  2. Create it based on your interests and what reflects best what you’ve learned and how you’ve integrated course activities and content.
Draw upon your other course requirements to shape this page: for example, use insights from your reading, our class discussions/activities, and/or autobiography study to build the page.
A few expectations (required) and points allotted:
  3. Incorporate topics from at least 2 periods of human development (e.g., early childhood and middle childhood) and at least 2 domains of development (e.g., physical and cognitive).
  4. Be multi-modal: use words, visuals, sounds, and other creative forms as needed and desired.
  5. Use tabs and/or links to add dimensions to the page.
  6. Use 12-24 point font consistently (based on function, i.e., factors such as headlines and narrative)
  7. Use only ONE font (preferably Times New Roman, unless discussed with me in advance).
  8. Make it user-friendly and engaging.
Use vocabulary appropriate for the audience(s) of your page. For example, how might the language chosen for your page differ if including information for teens as opposed to health care professionals?
