- Why is it important for a trainer (trainers) to understand the communication process?
Communication in training is extremely important as the wrong or ineffective communication can hinder one’s ability to properly do their job. It is important for the trainer to know what information to communicate and how to communicate the material effectively. They need to know different learning styles so that they can have the intuition to gauge what type of learner their trainee is and how to adapt their communication style to fit that person’s needs. When there is good communication, it will speed up the learning process and ensure the training is effective and efficient.
- How is the training process similar to the communication process?
The training and communication processes are similar because the listener (trainee) may not understand what the communicator (trainer) is trying to communicate. If they feel that the trainee is not understanding, then it is up to the trainer to change their communication style and ensure they are explaining things in a way that’s easy to understand and that the trainee can retain. Everyone has different learning styles and the trainer needs to adapt to the individual they are training. It’s also important for trainers to decide what type of other materials are appropriate for their topic such as multimedia presentations/videos and physical visual tools.
