Closely examine Chapter 5 of our text (history book: Give Me Liberty! Brief Volume 1 by Eric Foner) and associated assigned readings as they describe the American Revolution. One of the perspectives that is overlooked often when we are studying the American Revolution is that of the British themselves and of British Loyalists who lived in the colonies. Over 40 percent of the population in the 13 colonies were Loyalist (loyal to King George III). Loyalists believed that they were British Citizens and that they should obey their king.
