  1. Construct an argument either in favor of stricter gun control measures or against them.
  2. Discuss the 2nd Amendment in regards to your argument using the Supreme Court cases of U.S. v. Miller
    (1939) and D.C. v. Heller (2008) as a guide. Look at both the majority and dissenting opinions in these cases to
    assist you. What about these decisions or specific justice opinions did you like or dislike?
  3. Do gun control laws make us safer or put us at greater risk for victimization? Use the articles, videos, and
    conduct your own research to help you answer this question.
  4. Finally, compare two states and some of their gun control laws. For example, you could use the states of
    New York (high gun control) vs. West Virginia or Vermont (less gun regulation) to illustrate your point. Discuss
    things such as why these laws work, why they might not, and what can be done to improve legislation. You
    could examine things such as violent crime rate or gun crimes to strengthen your argument.
