Social workers do not diagnose mental illness. However, they do work extensively with service users
who may have at least one or more diagnoses. Your assignment is to present a short case example at
the start of your paper. Then explore mental health (addictions) services that may be available to your
client. Assume that you are a practicing social worker, in a community-based setting, and illustrate to
me the services that are available to your client and also the gaps in services that you find. I want you to
take an anti-oppressive/structural approach to consider the potential barriers to accessing services and
indicate in your paper how you will assist your client in overcoming these obstacles.
