Experiential research design.

Many of the core theories of mainstream social psychology (attribution theory, cognitive dissonance theory)
have been constructed upon a foundation of experimental research. In general, mainstream social psychology
has been defined almost solely by the use of quantitative methods (that is survey methods, experimental
design) and the use of statistical techniques such as analysis of variance, regression analysis, confirmatory
and exploratory factor analysis. The readings in this part of the course introduce you to the mechanics of
experimental and survey methodology, particularly as they apply to the domain of psychological social
psychology.
