Project 1 –Academic Success at University
In 2018–19, there were 1.80 million undergraduate students studying at UK higher education institutions (HESA Student record, 2018–19 ).
Specifically undergraduate student numbers were amongst the highest in business subjects with 342,970 student enrolments in the 2017-18 academic year (HESA Data and Analysis, 2017-18 ). This suggests that business related programmes are very popular, however university first year drop out rates within business are also increasing indicating that some students are not prepared for the transition from school/college and leave their programme within the first year of study.
As a team of students you have been asked by your Programme Leader (hereafter the Client) to produce a resource to support their new students in their academic transition from school/college to university that meets the following criteria:
Client Brief:
- A resource detailing information on the academic skills and qualities students need to adopt/develop to succeed in their studies at NBS.
- A cost effective, user-friendly resource which can be sent to students once they have secured a place on their programme and prior to starting in late September.
- An interactive resource which signposts students to other areas of support in the skill areas if needed. It must not be plagiarised from any existing sources.
- An authentic, informed and professional resource specifically designed to meet the needs of NBS students.
- An engaging resource which best meets the needs of your target audience.
