Group Intervention: Students will design a group intervention to help meet a need with a specific population
connected to your field placement. Students will write an APA formatted paper (Title page, 4-5 body pages,
Reference page, double-spaced, 12 point font, 1″ margins) on a proposed treatment group in which you apply
the knowledge and skills of generalist social work practice. The point of this assignment is to show how you
can use the research findings in the literature and apply what you have learned in class. Students will use your
book and the research literature to address the following:
Identify the needs of the population you propose to serve; (Include statistics on the problem/need)
Describe the purpose of the group; (identify specific research that supports the type of group you are doing and
any research that shows how needs are met for the population through this group).
Describe the composition of the group: age and general characteristics of participants; time and space needs,
program activities, group recruitment, screening, staff, and agency involvement.
In detail, describe the intervention, including how you plan to implement it;
Include a detailed plan for the first proposed group session and one for the last proposed group session.
