Responding to question 2 Air pollution has devastating short term and long term effects on health and the
economy. Analyze the health and economic burden of air pollution. Polution is defined ” as the introduction into
the environment of substances harmful to humans and other living organisms” (manisalidis, 2020). Human
activities have a huge effect on air polution and others for example the water we drink. Being exposed to bad
air quality or polution especiually for someone like myself can lead to major issues. I have a few different heart
issues from an irregular heart beat to shortness of breath. Bad air quality can lead to a respiratory desease,
weexing and or cough. From a health point we all have to do our part to make this situation better. For those of
us in the Bay Area we lived a very dangerous summer with all the fires that happened. It was so bad that we
had a day that the skies were orange and it rained ash all day. Going outside was not possible for people in my
condition. From an economic point “air pollution negatively impacts the U.S. economy, costing the U.S. roughly
5 percent of its yearly gross domestic product (GDP) in damages ($790 billion in 2014)” (Robinson, 2019). This
number will only get worse if something is not done. Great questions team!
