The Incredible Vegan Prison Experiment

In the late 1990s, San Bernardino County was short on prison space and agreed to open an experimental facility called Victor Valley MCCF.

The Experiment: They would feed the inmates a vegan diet.

The Result: They found that the recidivism rate of prisoners (rate of re-arrest) went from the state average of 95% to a 2%!

Food for thought:
-The US has the highest incarceration rate in the world.

  • Could we really change the rate of crime or the success of criminal rehabilitation just by diet changes? Why yes or why not?
