• Discuss some details about the crime committed, who was involved, what were the ages.
• Was the crime Deviant? Why or Why Not? (Remember deviance depends on who is evaluating it)
• What is the major debate regarding juvenile crime in America?
• Research and discuss a similar case of a child being charged as an adult.
• In your opinion, should a child—age 12/13 years old, be charged as an adult for a serious crime? Is a child an adult?
• Does the race and social class of the child matter? In other words, does race or being your rich or poor, play into how deviance is evaluated. Make sure you give solid reasons to support your points, and examples if needed.
• Use one of the deviance theories discussed in class to give a possible explanation for the behavior of the boys.
