Press release

Read the chapter (Links to an external site.) by Jasmine Roberts on the structure and format of a press release.
Imagine that you are the Public Relations account manager for a public television network. You are asked to
write a press release for their new nature show. You may only use the information you have. You are asked to create a logo for the network and show. The logo does not need to be fancy, but have some fun if you want to
be creative here. Here is the information you know:
Hosted by Dr. Sandy Springs and Dr. Rock Yellowstone. Dr. Springs is an award-winning geologist who has authored 5 books for children and 2 for all ages on geology. Dr. Yellowstone is a biologist who has authored
many field guides to plants of different areas of the world.
Airs Sundays at 2 p.m. EST on the local PTV station. Each episode is 30 minutes long.
The show will have the pair exploring the United States for their first season. They will stop in all 50 states. The show will highlight nature in different areas and will feature interviews with prominent scientists from all over the country.
Stops include the most popular national parks in the country, a site where dinosaur bones were found, a botanical garden, and a wildlife preserve.
Quotes from Dr. Spring
“My two great loves are geology and education. I’m so excited to bring them both together for this program.”
“I just met Dr. Yellowstone when we started, but it feels like we have been friends for years. We had a great
time working together!”
Quotes from Dr. Yellowstone
“Our goal is to make this show interesting for the entire family! We want all ages to be able to watch together
and learn about our planet.”
“We were able to visit so many beautiful places and get video of animals and plants that most people have
never seen on screen.”
