Where do they come from and just HOW IMPORTANT are they?
Juries are extremely important in the Criminal Law arena. Arguably the most
important “actor” within a jury trial.
How are the members of a ‘jury pool’ selected? What’s the legal term or title for this jury selection process?
What type of information would a Prosecutor or Defense Attorney ideally like to gain from a potential juror during jury selection?
There are two different “strike or challenge” options available to attorneys for excusing a potential juror – what are those two types of strikes or challenges called? Explain each of them and give two examples of EACH type.
Based on what you have learned and have previous knowledge of – do you have confidence that the jury system works or no? Why or Why not? If you do not believe that it is effective, what other solutions or ideas do you have for this need within a jury trial?
