Organizational Strategic Plan Formulation Project

 

Represent the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the same firm, company or organization you studied in the SWOT Analysis Project. You will use your SWOT analysis as one of the inputs for formulating a set of goals and objectives to be included in the Strategic Plan of the company/organization you selected. You are required to do some additional, individual research on the company to complete this project. You should include at least 3 quality reference sources in addition to your textbook, for a total of at least four references.

Your Organizational Strategic Plan Formulation project is a 4-5 page paper (double spaced) that includes the sections listed below. In addition to these sections, prepare a separate title page and final References page (neither of these is counted as “content”). Incorporate appropriate text, charts and/or graphics into your paper. However – a chart or image CAN NOT exceed ¼ of any page. Be sure to include in-text reference citations for quotations and paraphrases with references in APA format and style in your report.

1. Organizational Profile: A snapshot of the organization, the key influences on how it operates, and the key challenges it faces. (~1-2 Pages)
a. Location (address) of company headquarters
b. Brief (no more than ½ page or 1 slide) history of the company
c. Company Mission, Vision, and Values statements
d. Workforce Profile (# of employees; major employee groups or segments – e.g., engineers, programmers; employee educational requirements, etc.)
e. What industry does the company operate in?
f. Who are the company’s major competitors (top 2 – 3)?
g. What are the company’s main product and/or service offerings?
h. Who/what are the company’s key market segments, customer groups, and/or stakeholder groups?
i. Who/what are the company’s key suppliers, partners, and/or collaborators?
j. What are the company’s major assets (facilities, technologies, equipment, patents)?
k. What key regulatory requirements does the company operate under (e.g., occupational health and safety; environmental; accreditation; financial)?

2. Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats Overview (~1 Page)
a. What do you consider to be the company’s most significant internal strengths/weaknesses? Explain why you think so, with references to the course content and your knowledge of the firm.
b. What do you consider to be the company’s most significant external opportunities/threats? Explain why you think so, with references to the course content and your knowledge of the firm.

3. Top 3 to 5 Organizational Goals (~1/2 Page)
Given all that you have learned about the company from the Organizational Profile and analysis of its Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats, what would you, if you were the company’s CEO, set as the 3 to 5 most important goals for the next 3 to 5 years? Be sure to phrase each goal in terms of “what, who, and by when.” (What will be done, using an active verb; who will do it, what individual(s) or group(s); and when will they take action by.) For each goal, explain why you chose it, referencing wherever possible information you learned about the company, and the content of this course so far.

4. Communication Plan (~1 Page)
Briefly describe how you plan to communicate the company goals to internal and external stakeholders.
