Compose an essay that compares and/or contrasts two characters, themes or aspects each from separate works that we have read so far. You should devise a specific claim that narrows the topic to a specific focus, present evidence to support your claim, and anticipate counter-arguments.
Requirements:
Essays must be at least 500 words and no more than 750 words. Essays must be typed, double spaced, and written in proper MLA format as discussed in class.
These are not research papers. I prefer that you not use outside sources of any kind. However, if you do use another person’s words or ideas you must document them properly.
Some Advice:
Consider two characters who have the same or similar social role. For example, compare Penelope and Jocasta as wives, or Odysseus and Gilgamesh as leaders.
The best essay will find a narrow claim that can be considered at some length.
