Task summary This assessment requires that you develop a business case. Ideally, your business case will be based on an idea you might have in your own professional context. Growth strategy to include reference to: market expansion, product expansion, acquisition strategy options (happy for writer to take artistic licence), internal/external growth strategy, use BCG matrix as an appendix, top line growth strategy, bottom line growth strategy to be included (examples of an how they apply to increasing beef cattle production). Your business case should not exceed 3,000 words (excluding title page, references and appendix) and should adhere to the following structure: Background/Project Definition Statement (10%) Objectives/Future States Desired (10%) Current Situation (20%) Recommendation/Solution (20%) Success Criteria/Measures (20%) Support Required (10%) Next Steps/Timeline (10%) – Rubric attached below for marking criteria Some content for setting the scene to base the business plan on: Company ABC is a 150-year old, family-owned beef cattle enterprise in Central Queensland, Australia. The company is owned and managed by fifth-generation graziers and exports exclusively to the EU market, through processing facilities throughout Central Queensland. The business is based on grass-fed beef production, which provides a competitive advantage to grain-fed competitors as no hormonal growth stimulants are implanted within livestock, and livestock are free to roam improved grass pastures, and are not contained within feedlot conditions (which grain-fed cattle are subject to). The company has gone through a rigorous EU accreditation process to supply beef to Europe, and this is a standard the business is keen to maintain as it provides significant uplift to existing prices for premium beef and provides customers with the desired provenance of the beef they are purchasing and consuming. After a serious of successful years, solid beef prices across global markets and significant benefit of being EU-accredited, the company finds itself in a position of wanting to expand, either through acquisition of neighbouring farming properties (and converting them to grass fed, EU-accredited properties), or through improving existing practices to reduce bottom line costs through better use of big data, etc etc etc (or other!!). The company is in a solid financial position which means it will not likely need to borrow funds. Budget for these changes to improve productivity is approximately AUD20m. 1-2 charts/graphs are required to illustrate relevant elements of the business plan and are to be incorporated into appendices. 24 – APA 7th edition references are required (must be peer-reviewed University library references).
