Often when we think of a leader we think of people in a leadership position like an elected official, head of an
organization or captain of a team. However being a leader is more then just having a position it is about the
character traits we demonstrate on a regular basis.
Assignment:
1. Listen to the following TED Talk. Ted Talk: Everyday Leadership
Drew Dudley’s talk details his “lollipop moment” in which he believed the leadership he exhibits everyday
changed the course of a person’s life. As you listen think about everyday moments where you might have
impacted someone’s life or someone impacted yours.
2. Reflect on the talk and write a written response addressing the following questions.
Have you had a lollipop moment? If so, what was it? Did you ever tell the person involved?
If you haven’t had a lollipop moment describe a time in which you have demonstrated leadership. Was
your leadership effective?
