The Persuasive Speech is a 7-8-minute speech. The theme for this speech is “Making a Difference in the World” and you must choose a topic that in some way supports and advances this theme. Think about what truly moves your heart and makes you (want to) take action. Generally, for this topic, students choose to speak on an issue that will make a difference based on gender, ethnicity, ethics, morals, culture, religion, or social issues, etc. that relate to you, your audience, and your environment.

Central Idea: Technology has become increasingly prevalent in our society. Despite the benefits of technology, it also produces negative effects to an individual’s social well-being, physical fitness, and emotionality. Therefore, usage of technology should be reduced.
