The Thirty Years War

Some scholars have described the World Wars and the period between them as a “Second Thirty Years War.” (The Thirty Years War, 1618-48, was a series of conflicts that grew out of the struggle for political and religious control in Central Europe. It was the deadliest European war prior to WW1.) Is this assessment fair? Why or why not?
