1. The Pattern in the Powerful Females. One of the striking features in the two Arthurian stories we have read is that all the female characters in both tales are imbued with extraordinary powers, forces, and energies. Queens and Crones, Maidens and Goddesses, Mothers and Others–all possess powers that can be described as aesthetic, sexual, physical, spiritual, magical, shamanistic, or other.
Refer to the stories and consider these Females and the powers they possess. In your essay, answer these questions for each Female:
–Who is she?
–What are her specific powers?
–What is the specific theme, concept, or pattern that she has in common with the other Females?
Your working thesis is that all of the powerful women share an important common theme.
Identify each powerful Female, describe her powers, and explain the pattern, theme, or concept she shares in common with the other Females.
