1) Human development starts with a fertilized egg call the zygote, which contains all the genetic information to determine all the characteristics of the individual. It is copied and each cell in our bodies contain the same genetic information. The function of each cell is determined by its arrangement on the DNA, causing a “switch” to activate the gene that responsible for that cell’s function. Before this occurs, stem cells are being studied to harvest new cells to produce new cells to cure diseases such as diabetes.
2) Heritability is a term for how much genes contribute to a given trait. Some characteristics are determined primarily by heredity, while others are greatly influenced by the environment. Many such as addiction and depression are interactions of both. Some conditions, such as autism, were once thought to be entirely environmental, but are now known to be related to genetic make-up.
3) You also learned the term epigenetics, the study of how environment affects genes.
1) What happens in each of the prenatal stages of development
2) That exposure to teratogens can be harmful in each of the prenatal stages.
3) Culture influences how birth takes place. This has affected survival rates of babies, as well as, postpartum depression of mothers.
I want you to refer to these discussions and relate how changes in epigenetics and in the culture of childbirth relate to the theories of Bronfenbrenner, and or Maslow. Please read your rubric and note that it indicates that your paper should be 1000 words. It can be either single or double spaced. I am not asking you to format it in APA or MLA. (1000 words minimum)
Applications of the theories of Bronfenner or Maslow made to changes in epigenetics.
Describe how the ecological systems of Bronfenbrenner have impacted the changes in epigenetics. You may do this by describing how the systems affect our exposure to certain teratogens. You may do this by describing how the stages of Maslow are affected by teratogens or how these stages are affected by the changes in epigenetics that have or may be impacted by science as noted in the video presentations of Griffin and Sinclair.
Demonstrate much understanding of how the ecological systems of Bronfenbrenner have impacted the changes in epigenetics, how the stages of Maslow are affected by teratogens or how these stages are affected by the changes in epigenetics that have or may be impacted by science as noted in the video presentations of Griffin and Sinclair.

Applications of the theories of Bronfenner or Maslow made to changes in the culture of childbirth.
Describe how the ecological systems of Bronfenbrenner have impacted the changes in the culture of childbirth and or how the stages of Maslow have been impacted by these changes. You may do this by describing how the systems have affected hospital practices or choices made by mothers and partners . You may do this by describing how the changes in the culture have impacted the stages of Maslow.
