AARC, NBRC, and CoARC

Thread: Visit each website (AARC, NBRC, and CoARC) and review their mission statements and strategic plan
if available. Describe in your own words the role of each organization in the delivery of respiratory care. Visit
your state’s society page (i.e. www.vsrc.org). Describe a position on the board or special committee that you
would be interested in obtaining. Describe why you would be a good fit for that position and what you would
like to accomplish. If you have prior experience serving in a state society role describe your experience.
Visit CoARC’s website and click on “Map of Program Outcomes”. Select your state and compare the data of
two schools. One school should be a 4 year program and the other a 2-year program. Compare and contrast
the data between the two program such as employer satisfaction, jobs placement, and RRT pass rates.
Complete a literature search for scholarly references that either supports or opposes the idea of having an
entry level Bachelor of Science requirement and/or a RRT for entry level practice of respiratory therapy. You
need to use scholarly references to support your idea. You may need to use sources from our nursing
colleagues or other allied health such as PT, OT, or SLP.
Replies: For your replies, discuss the importance of membership in the AARC, what advantages and purpose
does membership serve. Either agree or disagree with the original thread on should there be a minimum of a
Bachelor of Science and/or RRT for entry into the field or should it be left up to the employer. Use scholarly
references to support your idea. Include a Biblical reference that supports your ideas such as education,
commitment, or leadership.
