As an example, I like to use the case of Elisa Lam.
Elisa Lam was a Canadian student who mysteriously disappeared while visiting Los Angeles in 2013. Her
body was found in a water tank atop the Cecil Hotel where she had been staying. Was her death murder,
suicide, accident, or even something else?
Reportedly, Lam was Bipolar and suffered from depression but had not displayed suicidal ideologies in the
past. “Although the coroner’s office ruled her death as an ‘accidental drowning,’ the strange details of
Lam’s case have fueled rampant speculation about what may have really happened. Internet sleuths have
come up with a myriad of theories about the tragedy, involving everything from murder conspiracies to evil
spirits.”
One controversial piece of evidence from the case is the elevator footage recorded shortly before her death.
