First, after completing the week’s reading assignment, identify a single important or meaningful passage 3-5 sentences, roughly one paragraph from the texts. A passage might be selected because it illustrates the author’s central argument, seems confusing or raises questions, connects to ideas or information presented in lectures or other readings, or inspires a creative thought in the reader.
Secondly, write an original paragraph also about 3-5 sentences explaining why he or she chose a particular text. It should be both reflective and academic. The paragraph will express the writer’s own connection to the passage. It is personal. However, it should focus on the intellectual content of the passage and the reader’s reaction to it as a student of political science. It is not emotional.
