Story structure. (500 words, font style: Ariel, Font size: 12)
This story should have a beginning, a middle and an end. This could be your own story or a story of a team you represented.
The story should start with an interesting piece of information about yourself as a nurse or a team that you worked with. Then you should describe yourself/the team and your decision and travels to work at KAAUH. Explain what made you/ the team different or the same to people you worked with. What would you/the team be remembered for at KAAUH ?
Omit dates and time frames, as this is a narrative description. Use words and adjectives to entice the reader to want to complete reading your story.
Describe the activities you/the team were involved in, the people you met and the new things you learnt.
The 5 Ws and H are a good sounding board to see if you covered everything:
Who, what, where, when, why and How.
Remember, every story has a PLOT, a story line, something for the reader to follow and understand. In this case the story is about you/the team and the plot is your learning and contributions at a new commissioning hospital, KAAUH.
Use humor and funny events to tell an incident.
People learn from your mistakes and lessons you learnt, so don’t be afraid to tell of the problems you/the team encountered, but always say how you solved those problems.
End the story by quoting something good you/the team learnt and how it will stay with you. Please also state how your KAAUH experience prepared you for your new or current job and position that you are in.
Please can you include a black and white picture of yourself/your team doing some nursing activity with your submission.
