You have recently been hired as a supervisor and accepted a six-month probationary period. You have earned a Certificate in Human Resource Management from a well-known university. Your arrival coincides with performance appraisal time in the company. You quickly realize that the currently used appraisal instrument is of little value, because it consists mainly of subjective measures. The appraisal instrument is the brainchild of the CEO, who is very proud of “his baby,” as he explained when he hired you. One of the tasks given to you is the training of supervisors in assessing performance. You know that any training with this instrument is a waste of time, but if you criticize it, there is a danger that you will not survive the probationary period. What will you do?
