The UCR Dining, Hospitality, and Retail Services Team has a long standing history of providing students, faculty and staff with outstanding food and service in a welcoming environment. The Training and Development department is a newer entity to the DHRS family. Training and Development is dedicated to preparing Dining’s and Housing’s workforce for personal development and career advancement. The vision for Training and Development is to grow our staff, menu of services, and presence within Dining, Housing, and Auxiliary Services in general, over the next 3 to 5 years.
Training and Development is seeking a MBA Student to create a comprehensive business plan for estimating the cost and developing the structure, of training and developing Dining’s and Housing’s employees over the next 3 to 5 years. The individual would gain access to the management team from Mid-Level Managers to the Executive Director of Dining. They will perform a variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses (e.g. operational, financial, market). Utilize project management tools to develop a business plan. The individual will carry out major assignments in conducting the operation of his or her project including being involved in relevant planning long- or short-term business objectives. The individual will develop process and outcome metrics to measure project success. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in comparing and evaluating options and approaches to analyses or project management, including possible courses of conduct, and acting or making a decision after the various possibilities have been considered. The intern may perform light clerical duties and assist executive management staff members.
The individual will report directly to the Training and Development Analyst and will be expected to thrive and grow with minimal oversight on a day-to-day basis. This project will give an individual a chance to experience the hospitality industry’s culture and an outstanding organization first-hand!

o An Executive Summary
o Business Overview
o Operation Plan
o Marketing and Advertising
o Competitive Analysis
o Management Team
o Financial Plan and Projections
• Participate and/or lead business development conversations with prospective and existing clients
• Lead internal business development meetings, including pitch factory sessions, strategic account planning meetings, proposal development sessions, etc.
• Write new business proposals and documentation to support pitches and proposals
• Support creative development of ideas and strategies to be presented
• Ensure alignment of ideas with client strategy and objectives
• Support the negotiation, drafting, and circulation of contracts, partnership agreements, and other legal documents
