Community health assessment

The major project for the course is the development of a community health plan in response to an urban public
health problem or challenge with a focus on designing an intervention(s) to address or eliminate the problem or
challenge. Working in groups of 3-5, students will be assigned a Boston neighborhood and each group will
design a community health needs assessment to identify key health issues for that particular neighborhood.
Students will then select a health issue and develop an innovative approach to address a particular issue. The
final component of this project will be a funding pitch to a panel of judges to gain support for their proposed
intervention
