Part A: Concept Map & Part B: Reflective Statement Effective Skills and Knowledge and Ethical Professional Processes for Contemporary Counselling Approaches

 

P​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​urpose: A concept map is a type of graphic organiser used to help students organise and represent their knowledge of a subject. Concept maps begin with a main idea (or concept) and then branch out to show how that main idea can be broken down into specific topics. Process: There are two parts to this assessment: Part A – Concept Map The purpose of this task is for students to explore and visually illustrate the relationships between concepts and ideas on the topic of effective skills and knowledge and ethical professional processes for contemporary counselling approaches. The counselling approaches need to be out of the list of counselling orientations covered in this unit (e.g. Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Open Dialogue). Often represented in circles or boxes, concepts are linked by w​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​ords and phrases that explain the connection between the ideas, helping students organise and structure their thoughts to further understand information and discover new relationships. Most concept maps represent a hierarchical structure, with the overall broad concept first with connected sub-topics, and more specific concepts following. Literature should be cited within the concept map, where applicable, through in-text citations. Students are to create their concept map in a MS Word document (one A4 page). Part B – Reflective Statement Write a critical reflection (maximum 500 words minimum 450 words +/-10%) on the insights you have gained through the development of a concept map on the topic of effective skills and knowledge and ethical professional processes for contemporary counselling approa​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​ches.
