Analyze the Copycat (1995) film from a psychological perspective. Specifically, explain and discuss the psychological disorder that is depicted in the film. Based on what you have learned from our class, you will then attempt to determine if the film accurately depicts the disorder.
Write a paper that includes the following information:
1. Provide a brief introduction to the paper. What is the goal of the paper? Make sure that you indicate which movie you are analyzing.
2. Provide a brief summary of the movie (no more than a paragraph). Please remember that you are not being asked to critique the film in terms of its value as a work of art or as entertainment. Most of your paper should focus on discussing the psychological disorder and whether it is portrayed accurately.
3. Indicate which psychological disorder is portrayed within the film. What are the symptoms of this disorder? Be sure to use the DSM-5 criteria that we learned in class. Be sure to indicate which character in the film suffers from this disorder. Be sure to cite specific pages from the textbook to support your information.
4. Is the psychological disorder accurately portrayed in the film? Why or why not? Be sure to discuss specific examples from the film to support your points. For instance, describe the scenes that demonstrate either the correct or incorrect portrayal of the symptoms.
5. Did the movie explore any causal factors regarding the development of the disorder in the character (e.g., age, sex, family history, etc.)? If so, how did this compare to what you have learned? Be sure to cite specific pages from the textbook to support your points.
6. Was treatment for the psychological disorder portrayed in the film? If so, what type of treatment do you think was portrayed? Based on what we learned, is this an effective treatment for this disorder? Be sure to cite specific pages from the textbook to support your points.
7. Provide a short conclusion to tie everything together and summarize your paper.
