Nursing Research Article Critique
- Choose the following articles:
Decreased stress levels in nurses - Write a scholarly paper answering the questions listed below regarding the process for
analyzing a nursing research article. - Attach your paper as a Word document to the assignment titled “Article Critique” on Canvas.
The paper is to be in APA format, and necessary in-text
citations. Complete sentences as well as proper spelling and grammar are expected. The paper
should be 3-4 pages in length and all questions must be answered completely. Subject headers
are allowed but must be used in correct APA format. Papers found to be lacking in-text citations
will be given a grade of zero and may be considered plagiarized and subject to referral to
student affairs for academic dishonesty. This an individual assignment.
All papers will be submitted to TURN IT IN for a similarity score. All papers will be due
by 11/7/20 at 11:59 pm. Late papers will not be accepted and will be given a
grade of zero.

- Does the abstract offer a clear overview of the study? What evidence is there to support this?
- What is the purpose/objective of the study and where is it located within the article?
- What are the objectives/research hypothesis?
- What is the target population? Is it of adequate size? What is the inclusion/exclusion criteria?
- What process was used to collect data? Was this described in a way that made it easy to
follow? - Are the results presented clearly in the text? What is the significance of the findings?
- Is there a discussion at the end of the article? How does this support the hypothesis?
- What were the strengths and weaknesses of the article?
- What are the limitations of the article and their implications?
- Explain how the references cited are appropriate/inappropriate for the article (i.e are they
within the last 5 years, is there a sufficient amount of references presented?). - What are the recommendations for future nursing practice or research?
