Desegregation of public schools during the 1950s era

    Analyze how the African-American community and the desegregation of public schools were represented during the 1950s era in the mainstream press versus the ethnic press (Los Angeles Sentinel). You will need to review both the clippings in our online reader for this week as well as the clippings found on PBS American Experience website. Think about the following in your analysis: whose experiences, what experiences and/or concerns are privileged in each press to shape the discourse of African-Americans and desegregation during the 1950s
