In order for a child to be "ready to learn", the
Child’s basic needs must be met (food, shelter, health care, security)
Child needs to know how to make connections with others, and cooperate
Child’s brain structures must be fully developed; not been negatively affected by stress/trauma
Child’s domains (or areas) of development are on track
