Select any three of these Act 1 scenes– scene 1 (864-9), scene 2 (869-75), scene 5 (876-7), scene 8 (879-83), scene 11 (884-6) — from the script in Meyer Literature to Go, fourth edition.
[Use the “Dollhouse Act-Scene Outline” document attached at the bottom of this page to locate where specific scenes begin and end.]
For each selected scene, please respond to the following tasks.
List the characters that appear in this scene. (Who is in this scene?).
List objective actions (who does what in this scene?): Summarize in one paragraph the most important objective actions in the scene —just what actually happens in the scene— just who does what. NO interpretations or judgments or conclusions. NO “what does this mean” yet.
A moment of high dramatic tension: Identify a point of high dramatic tension in each scene (conflict between characters). Give the page number and dramatic context (“when A says to B on page ##…”). Explain why you chose that point in the scene. Which characters are in conflict? Name the interests that are in conflict (collision).
Copy out two separate memorable passages from this scene: Copy out verbatim (word for word) two passages you found memorable from the scene. Give the speaker’s name and the page number. Explain briefly why you chose these passages as memorable or important for this scene.
