This is the case study for this assignment:

I am a social worker at the local community centre in Sydney Australia. Kathy has come into the community centre seeking help. During the initial assessment, Kathy reveals that she is 37 years old and has been married to John for 18 years and has 2 children (Adam 6, and Alicia 5) who live in the family home. This is the first time Kathy has ever asked for help. Kathy tells me that her husband John, has been drinking alcohol today. About an hour ago he hit Kathy in the face breaking her nose. John has left the house but Kathy does not know where he has gone. The physical abuse has been happening from about one year into the marriage. The reason Kathy has sought help today is she is afraid that John will physically abuse the children, as his drinking and violence seems to be increasing lately. Kathy has no idea where John is or when he is coming home. Kathy is afraid that if she stays living in the family home the abuse will escalate and she fears that John will abuse the children.
