Watch the film “Educating Peter”
Yes, it is an old film! I try not to use old material in this course, but I have never found a contemporary film as good as this one. Even though it is old (you can tell from the hairdo’s and the glasses) I believe you will derive much from it. It is usually named the favorite film of all films I provide during the course by my students. I hope you enjoy it. Please answer the following questions related to the film. Add enough information so that students who read your post know what part of the film you are talking about.
Choose a scene that stood out to you –
What was peter doing in that scene? Describe his actions. What part of the day/instructional period was it? Was he at home or at school?
How did the children or the teacher relate to Peter during this incident? Did they protect themselves – did they need protection? Did they help/support Peter? What do you think they were feeling towards Peter during this event – friendship or fear?
Was there a lesson learned? What was it? Was it learned by Peter? Was it learned by his peers or the teacher?
Would you have done anything different to support Peter or the students during this incident?
