Electoral systems

Assess which electoral systems best promote stable democracies utilizing articles found in the Current Debates text on Pgs. 100-105 and 105-108. In addition to citing and assessing material from these articles, students may also cite news and other sources relevant to the essay topic. The essay should address the following: (1) Reviewing the electoral systems we discussed this semester, which would you recommend for a country transiting to democracy? (2) How do governmental systems (Presidential/Parliamentary/SemiPresidential) impact electoral system choice? This assignment is not a recommendation for a single actual country, but rather a plan applicable in any country undergoing a regime transition.
