Enrichment Events

Purpose:
As part of your journey in the Deaf Studies, participating in events is an important way to gain a better
understanding of the issues within the Deaf communities. You are to participate in two (an hour or more)
qualified Deaf Culture related enrichment events such as: live or webinar lectures, community events, etc.,
hosted by Deaf people themselves unless it is a unique event.
Skills/Knowledge:
Participant observation offers you an opportunity to collect data and examine in an unobtrusive way using
different techniques such as taking notes, photos, or record videos. You are to observe the behavior of the
host, speaker(s), performer(s), participant(s), and/or volunteer(s). Focus on the social dynamics of the
audience/participants including yourself. The detailed analysis of the activities in the space of the event needs
to be critically accomplished. Remember observation can be done before, during, and after the event.
