This is the full question: Ernest Mathijs and Jamie Sexton note that “a major way in which cult receptions are different from other forms of film receptions is that they are part of a collective process” and that “this notion is embedded in the very definition of the term cult as a community, a commonality of congregation that sees itself at odds with normalized culture” (Mathijs and Sexton, 2011: 19). Write an ethnographic study* of a cult community of your choice, and critically discuss how its members relate to both the cult object (a film, franchise or TV series) and each other. What does this suggest about the significance of community to cult practices and engagement?
