Examining Rhetoric and Audience Analysis

Select a speech or article that is designed to persuade its audience and address the questions below.
Rhetoric
Describe the rhetorical device or devices used. In what ways did the speech/article attempt to persuade you? Evaluate the effectiveness of the persuasion: was it effective? Why or why not. Choose an example a rhetorical devise from the speech/article, and determine how you could use at least one of the same rhetorical devices in your own writing.
Audience Analysis
Who is the intended audience for the speech or article? In what ways did the presenter or writer make attempt to create connections with the audience? Would you be considered part of the audience for this piece? If not, did you feel excluded by any language, biases, or assumptions of the presenter/author? How does examining this piece influence how you think about audience?
