Overview:
This class teaches you to think about how film and television companies sought to capture market share, reach
new audiences, embrace the online technology revolu;on and mone;ze exis;ng and user-generated content.
Driving many of these decisions were corporate leaders who were unprepared for the online, mobile and social
media revolu;ons that forever changed the way television networks generated revenue and ra;ngs.
The Assignment:
Iden;fy two leaders (CEOs, programming heads, chief marke;ng execu;ves, etc.) who significantly transformed
their respec;ve networks’ (TV, streaming, etc.) by embracing digital, streaming, and social media technology.
Which ones were successful in leveraging new technology plaKorms to grow market share and remain
relevant? What strategies did they employ to create success? What missteps did they make along the way?
Were there significant turning points that ul;mately led them in the right direc;on?
Include interes;ng facts about each leader’s path to success, background, life path, significant strengths and/or
weaknesses, and describe these in terms of the accomplishments and obstacles they have managed for their
respec;ve networks. Make certain you research each execu;ve thoroughly and note your research sources at
the end of your paper in a bibliography. Use a variety of sources to support your statements
