Demonstrate how the filmmaker’s creative decisions in ONE film from the block serve to establish the film’s point of view on the characters, story and subject. Creative decisions include but are not limited to choices about settings, periods, camerawork, characters, plotting, performances and motifs, in short, anything that forms a stylistic pattern in the film. In your essay, you should discuss the pattern established across the whole film, but you should also interpret in detail at least one example of the pattern. Make sure that you draw on the chapters and essays provided on Moodle. You can find details of how to acknowledge the work of other writers in the Media Arts Style Guide, available on Hoodie. When you want to read more interpretations of the film you are studying, please use the weekly handouts on Moodle to find relevant sources.
