A Kielbasa Too Far is a sort of anti-food piece, a more conceptual story about the perils of eating and getting sick in foreign countries. For this Journal assignment I would like you to write about a bad eating experience. Have you ever gotten violently ill from food? Food poisoning, or just a nasty upset stomach? Tell me a story about it. As usual, set the scene a little: where were you, describe it? What was the context of the meal--and what did you eat? How did it taste as you ate it, and what did the illness feel like? Try to evoke sensations in a way that makes me feel it too!
