Forensic science

It is clear that further debate is required in forensics as to how to organize and locate forensic labs, crime scene technicians/investigations, and evidence processing. Several models are available including the current model most prevalent in the US which is association with law enforcement, the medical examiner or the prosecutor's office. What kind of autonomy does forensic science need to be effective? What do you feel the BEST model would be and why?
