The founding fathers of the United States created a system in which the American people had the power and
responsibility to select their leader. George Washington was the first U.S. president and it was elected in 1789.
At the time, only white men who owned property could vote, but the 15th, 19th and 26th Amendments to the
Constitution have since expanded the right of suffrage to all citizens over 18. Elections Take place every four
years, presidential campaigns and elections have evolved into a series of fiercely fought, and sometimes
controversial, contests.
Select one of the two mayor political parties in the U.S.A. and apply the concepts learned in group dynamics,
write 3-5-page paper regarding this party. These 3-5 page papers will summarize the material and reflect the
observations of the student
in this political campaign. Papers should include reference terms, theories and ideas that were presented in the
class.
