        Local Policy Issue Advocacy Letter: Students will be assigned to groups. You will need to agree on one topic. Write a letter to either your city or State representative local house representative, borough president, The topic of your advocacy letter should be any matter related to healthcare that you believe needs to be addressed by a change in local health policy, rules, laws, or ordinances, that you want your local representative to be aware of. This topic should be about a local issue in your community. Look around your community and decide as nurse/ nurse practitioner student what would you advocate to change as it relates to health in your community. If there is no policy, law or ordinance should there be one? National Representative should not be used.   Criteria for the evaluation of the Local Policy Issue Advocacy Letter: (See Grading Rubric) Addressed and correct title of your chosen Local representative – 1 point Local health care issue explained including statistics – 3 points What would you like your representative to do and why – 4 points. As a health care worker how can you assist the representative to make the change – 2 points Supporting documentation should be included in APA format.
