An example of how an ELP can be addressed within the instruction of science, using the ELP standard for a pre-emergent student, is when the teaching asks the student if energy is the ability to do work and the student responds with a yes answer, this is standard PE-9.

An example of how an ELP can be addressed within the instruction of social studies, using the ELP standard for a high intermediate student, is when the student asks why Abraham Lincoln could have been assassinated when he had people assigned to protect him. This is considered HI-9.
